I am a magazine junkie.
There I said it, are you satisfied.I admit I waste what little money I have on magazines. Any type really will quelch my craving,my desire to know who Jessica is sleeping with now.How to make potholders out of woodchips and strawberry gum. What Martha thinks is a good thing. Who is the latest up and comming "it" artist, girl boy , dog.How do I loose those unwanted pounds and what type of lipstick will make my lips look like Angelinas
What films i should see and what music is worth buying. I spend all my money on magazines .Mostly for the pretty pictures though. The smooth glossy photos, they smell like cream pie.
I picked this up and so should you. I picked it up for the cover by Tom Waits and the story by Miranda July

I'm just mad about ...Donovan
Latley I've taken a liking to old, yet new music.
Donovan has become one of my new favorites.He's sort of pop folk version of Dylan who is one of my all time favorites. My sister was actually named after a song of his,as of all of us kids, I was named after an Allman Brothers song.
After listening to one of his albums, I was inspired to do a series of photos. Playing with color , it seems that his songs were always mentioning color or a girl.So I 've finally come up with what i will start, a series of color photos.I wont go into detail about what exactley, mainly cause it hasnt progressed that far in my mind.However i think a cross between a Donovan song and a Rothko painting is the direction I'm heading down. I know it's not original.But the goal is jus to get me picking up a camera agian, fo rme to just get back into the swing of things,since it's been a few months
( babies make good excuses to procrastinate).
Oh I tried to put up some links but it seems that only the first two work.So I'll have to figure that whole thing out. So you can check out some other sites that I regulary check into .
Does it really matter that Frey lied? Or that JT Leroy is actually two writers? If the books are good and you enjoy them does it matter if the writers are phoneys. I mean after all arent we all to some degree.They just succeeded at it far better then the rest.
I hear little bleats coming from teh other room. So this will have to be a quick entry.

Let's start all over agian..hello my name is
I know that it has been forever. I do apologize for my disappearing act. I do have a good reason though.
She has ten tiny fingers and ten tiny toes and every day I fall more and more in love with her.Mummy hood is awesome.
But alas it's a new year and a new time in my life and nothing spurns inspiration and motivation then having a baby.It gives you new purpose in life, they actually make you want to succeed, to accomplish goals, to become somewhat successful.You know , so that you can provide, so they can look up to you, so you can be a great person in their tiny little eyes. Also so you dont have to go back to a crummy job you never really liked in the first place.
So as this second month in the new year is about to arrive I have realized just what i need to do for the new year. A sort of new years resolution if I must say.
1: Build up NEW body of work.I'm tired of looking at my images and seeing the same faces and stories. I think what i need to do is actually do a massive clean out. I started doing this at the end of last year.But that was more getting rid of all the rejects , the images that were messed up in printing or just plain bad.But I think I actually need to rid myself, cleanse my drawers, closets and studio of all photos that are older then 2 years.If anyone would like to do some art swapping, lets talk, lets trade, drop me an email a comment, will swap for your art/crafts/ designs/writings...a surprise in the mail for you, a surprise in the mail for me.Once i clear my space, my studio , my head..time to add new...stories
2: Finish that childrens book i started and then to attempt to get my hubby to do the art or recruit some other lost soul, who has always wanted to do a book. Considering that I have book publishing connections why havent I actually followed through with my threat to use them and their promises to look at what i present.
3: piano and French lessons agian,maybe not french but spanish
4: Finish up piece before April show, then finish book cover before May deadline, then finish up new series before July exhibition..yikes, why did i commit to this when i knew i would have limited time with a new baby. When did I commit to this??
5: Try to figure out how I am supposed to make money by doing what I want so I dont have to go back to work at that big old studio, making bad movies...I just dread going back to freelance though. And since i still dont call myself an "artist" what do I call myself and do artist even make money these days to suport themselves?
6: Start short film , have script and music now just need to start it.
7: go home to Oregon ,Seattle and London, to visit family and friends before i get to busy.
Starting next month I will have someone at the house 3x a week to help out with duties as well as with Gigi so I can be in the studio attempting to do or at least start all this..so really I have no excuse
But first things first..a group project ( i work better in groups)
for a little show that I will co-organize with a friend for the New and Improved "Lucky Dip" number 5
for those of you who dont know what the Lucky Dip is..
Lucky Dip is collaboration of hard work by various artist around the world. two silly girls run Lucky Dip . We invite a group of artist to contribute one piece of work to a small one night only exhibition. Each piece is given a number . At the end of the night each artist pulls out a random number from a hat and you then take home that peice of art work . Each artist who contributes is asked to swap the art with another. Thus the lucky dip and then there begins the start of your new small art collection, you've always wanted. It's all for fun, it's not to be taken to seriously .But as always the art is pretty amazing ranging from sculptures, paintings,drawings, photography, film and once even a sound piece.
the invites and theme will be sent out end of next month, anyone interested let me know by email or by posting a comment that will in turn end up in my email box.If you need further details i can provide...
ok it's late , for me anyway as i am running on 3 hours a sleep a night.
oh yeah, any one want to help me do/design my website
for free of course, or actually for an amazing dinner and a bottle of great wine, and my undying gratitude and forever love.
