40 years...

Today is the anniversary of the death of Robert Kennedy.
I wasn't even a blink in my mum's eye.
I'm not one who stands on soapboxes and screams my political views.
However, it seems to me that the closest thing I will get to feeling at one with my country in
needing a change, having some hope, a sense of pride like how it was back then. Well it seems to me that time might be now for me and my generation.
That's all I'm saying.

I was asked to by some online magazine to compile a list of 5 of my favorite images.
That's impossible..But I'm gonna try.
Every week I will post them and try to explain what it is that makes that image a top 5 for me.

Starting with this image..which has always been a all time favorite. It also ties in with today.
This book has always been a favorite book of mine and I often look at it.
The photo has always stood put to me the most.I get a little teary eyed. I have a huge sense of wonderment of who these people are.I want to know them.I want to the little ones ask them if they remember? I feel somewhat connected to this family. As if i were part of them. Barefoot and running through sprinklers on a hot day. Dirty and carefree but having the sense that will all change. I want to ask the father how he felt as a man that lost his hope.
I don't look at this photo in anyway on a technical level. Purely emotional, a sad wonder. I think Paul Fusco's captured some of the most emotionally powerful images from an area that wasn't afraid to show these emotions. We shouldn't forget.
