light reading options

This months Atlantic is the Special Fiction Issue 2008.
The Atlantic is i believe the oldest short story literary magazine around. That was up till the decided not to publish short stories every month. People had a hard time accepting this. Little did they know the Atlantic had something up their sleeve and lo and behold. The Fiction issue arrived.Tricky bastards..
You can read some online but i suggest you grab a copy and read them while sitting in a hot bath. This gets the pages all wet the best part about reading in the bath.

A selection of some of short stories doesn't often hold my attention for to long. I always find myself reading half of the book of shorts. I read this whole magazine and really enjoyed most. Especially one in particular .I was softened by the story " The Second Coming of Gray Badger" By Carter Simms Benton.
In Short...
"The Second Coming of Gray Badger" tells the story of two brothers traveling around 1070's America with a stolen racehorse, trying to win enough money to bail their horse trainer father out of prison.
Benton writes in a lovely prose, very minimal and spare. Leaving the reading wondering and wanting. Which is his purpose. It's a grand gesture to the love of writing.A great thing for the love of the reader. I read he is now writing his first novel.
